For a Christmas present I took several people to the Cirque du Soleil show “Kooza” in San Francisco. It was a pretty good show, but I think that I liked the “Verakai” show more. The show was comprised of different acts all set to music and lights. There was one point in the show where a tight rope walker leaped over another walker; slipped and caught himself on the tight rope. The acrobat’s hat flew off at this time. These moments are part of what makes the shows so exciting. I do have a little bit of a letdown though. It was staged. My brother-in-law came to the show with us and discussed it with his friends from San Francisco a few weeks after. They all had seen the same acrobat make the same “mistake” on the tightrope. To me this was a little like hearing that Santa Claus is fake. (Sorry everyone- but everyone knows that ”elves” are 10 year old children in Asia; not in the North Pole) Altogether, the show was a great time. The wheel of death was probably the best bit, and the contortionists were kind of like looking at a car accident-it’s so weird that you can’t look away. I would recommend going to Kooza; even though it’s not the best show out there.
